Reflection #5

Accelerated Reader(AR) is a program that Lakeview Elementary School, and I'm sure the whole district, is using in the classroom.
As the students read books they can go to the computer and take a 5 to 10 question test. The test questions are comprehension questions. Depending on the book they earn points for reading and passing the test. At Lakeview, the students have an AR wall where they get to put their name when they have reached 10 points, 15 points, 20 points, and so on. The kids love it. They have parties when the whole class reaches a specific mark. Struggling students can read easier books and the advanced students can read harder books. The students who read easier books have to read more to get the same amount of points, but the more they read the better they will become. Over all, I think this is a great program. The list of books they have tests for is growing every month. The website I mentioned in a previous assignment, the book wizard, tells you what books can be used for AR, so when ordering book you can get a balanced amount.. In the classroom the teacher separates the books whether or not they qualify for AR.
